Welcome Week Fundraising for Doctors Without Borders

The Student Leadership Program will be raising funds for Doctors Without Borders, which is an organization that provides medical care to people in 70 countries around the world. Doctors Without Borders has been actively involved in crisis situations, such as the Ebola outbreak, as well as in long term efforts by providing immunizations, pediatric care, women's health care, mental health care, and so much more. The fundraisers will take place throughout Welcome Week from Tuesday, January 20 through Friday, January 23.

Tuesday: Bake sale- Roving carts will be selling baked goods, as well as homemade bracelets, scarfs and pins. Ticket sales will also begin for the "Pie in the Face" contest to be held on Friday.
Wednesday: A Student Leadership Program table will be set up in the SUB during the Activities Fair to help bring awareness to Doctors Without Borders.
Thursday: A table will be set up in the cafeteria from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and in the SUB from 1-2 p.m. to continue selling bracelets, scarfs, pins and tickets for the "Pie in the Face" contest.
Friday: Tickets will continue to be sold for the "Pie in the Face" contest, which will be held in the SUB at 3 p.m. At that time, tickets will be drawn to determine which faculty members will receive a pie in the face.

Parking Space Raffle

Purchase your chance to win a reserved parking space for spring semester. One in Lot B & one in Lot E will be raffled on Friday, Jan. 23. Don’t spend time looking for a space, win a reserved one! 3 tickets for $1, 20 for $5 and 50 for $10! Look for tickets at the Winter Blues Picnic on Tuesday or stop by the Student Activities Office in the SUB to purchase tickets. All proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity.

FSJ Logo Contest

Front Street Journal is looking for a new logo as part of their relaunch, and want to involve you, the students of RACC, in creating a new logo to represent FSJ on their new website, social media and in print. This logo will be the focus of the new branding of FSJ, and is a great résumé addition for the winning artist. The contest is open to all students at RACC, and will be open through Friday, Feb. 6. Contest rules are below:

  • No smaller than 10,000 x 10,000 pixels
  • Must say "Front Street Journal" in prominent position
  • Must be red, white, black OR blue, white, black
  • Cannot contain offensive images or references
  • Cannot contain copyrighted images or fonts (must provide name of font for verification)
  • Must agree to use of logo indefinitely (with full credit)

Submissions must be emailed to Shawn Wunder, FSJ Online Content Chief (sw93130@ravens.racc.edu) NO LATER than February 6 with a subject of FSJ LOGO CONTEST SUBMISSION, along with your full name included in the body of the email. Add the logo as an attachment to the email.

The RACC Bookstore is located in the Berks Hall Lobby. Financial aid for Spring semester is now open through Friday, Feb. 20. You can always access the bookstore online.
