At Reading Area Community College students are succeeding— earning degrees and certificates, acquiring the skills needed to qualify for in-demand jobs, continuing their education or advancing in their chosen field. RACC is an affordable and robust choice for today's college students and a force for positive change in the local community.
We are pleased to introduce you to four of our students:
Rachel Lee
Rachel is one of the founding members of RACC's chapter of Psi Beta, a national honor society for psychology students. A psychology major, Rachel works at Sweet Street Desserts in addition to attending classes toward her Psychology degree. She earned first place in her category at the 2013 Beacon Conference. Rachel will graduate in December and plans to transfer to Millersville.
Carlos Hernandez
An active member of numerous student activities groups and a work study in the Student Records Office, Carlos Hernandez was well-known on RACC's campus. He graduated in May with a Liberal Arts degree and is currently attending Temple University. A graduate of Reading High School, Carlos hopes to attend law school and become a public defender.
Erica Hamilton
Erica Hamilton has a strong desire to help others, often when the need is most dire. She volunteered in New York after 9/11 and then years later traveled to Haiti after their devastating earthquake. A native of Finland, Erica completed our Certified Nurse Aide career training program and is currently working and considering returning to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Nate Brandt
The affordability and the ability to transfer credits is what first brought Nate Brandt to RACC. After bouncing between majors, he finally settled on Mechatronics after his mother saw a BCTV report on RACC's Schmidt Training and Technology Center. He earned good grades at Governor Mifflin, but said he always had a drive to do something hands-on. Nate earned his Associate degree and is now employed by Samuel Adams.
Chances are excellent you know one or more RACC graduates. Ask them why RACC was the right choice for them. You'll find that it's all about access, affordability and excellence.
The Foundation for RACC is dedicated to supporting RACC— it is our sole mission and total focus. Our Annual Fund provides support for scholarships, tutoring, educational technology, facilities improvements and so much more. Please consider a gift in support of the 2015 Annual Fund. Your gift will enhance RACC's ability to encourage student excellence - in short an investment in people, families and our community. I appreciate your consideration and support!
