Summary:
The Healthcare Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and oversight of all healthcare programs and education. The Coordinator is responsible for the organization, curriculum development, hiring and supervision of faculty, scheduling classes, assessment of learning outcomes and objectives, and ensuring that programs meet accreditation requirements. The Coordinator may be responsible for developing new programs and training opportunities which may include off-site training, as directed by the College. The Healthcare Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Career Training, Community Education and Professional Development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with local and state agencies, businesses, non-profits and healthcare organizations to develop and implement non-credit career education and training programs for the region, as directed.
- Work with marketing to prepare marketing materials including brochures, flyers, print and digital advertisements and utilize the website to advertise and promote career education.
- Participate in recruitment events including job fairs, RACC community events, and high school events to market Career programs.
- Coordinate the academic, didactic, laboratory and clinical education for Health Care Programs and Continuing Education which includes collaborating with faculty to create and maintain up to date course syllabi, course descriptions, textbooks, prerequisites, clinical requirements and program policies.
- Assist the seamless articulation of non-credit career education to credit by developing curriculum that aligns with content and learning outcomes of credit courses.
- Oversee the scheduling of non-credit career education and training courses, including determining start/end dates, assigning faculty, and scheduling rooms/sites.
- Develop and oversee assessment of learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
- Coordinate clinical experiences and act as a liaison to clinical sites.
- Oversee and ensure the completion of all required paperwork for students receiving funding from private, federal, state and local funding sources including but not limited to: OVR, Trade Act, CareerLink and employer reimbursement.
- Oversee and ensure that all student and faculty paperwork, clearances and documents are collected and properly retained.
- Maintain accreditations and where appropriate, seek out new accreditations and recognized certifications. Ensure that all programs are compliant with current regulations and oversee accreditation visits.
- Register and provide academic counseling for current students as to non-credit career education and training as needed.
- Develop, implement and enforce Career Preparation program policies and procedures.
- Maintain appropriate College records including course input information, course syllabi, registrations, payments, attendance and grading.
- Prepare reports including programming, enrollment and fiscal.
- Order instructional materials and recommend equipment purchases as necessary.
- Administer the Career Programs operating and capital budgets.
- Recruit, hire, orient, supervise and evaluate all full-time and part-time noncredit Healthcare Program instructors and staff.
- Supervise the coordinators, student workers and support staff as assigned.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervise full-time and part-time employees assigned to Healthcare Career Programs. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Reading Area Community College policies, collective bargaining agreements and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Business, Education or related field OR Associate’s Degree in Nursing OR Licensure in Nursing
- Three years of management experience
Preferred:
- Direct experience working in a Healthcare setting preferably as a licensed professional
- One or more years of experience as a registered nurse in a long-term care facility
- Experience with curriculum development
- Experience managing program accreditations
- Previous teaching experience with adult learners.
- Bilingual English/Spanish
Certificates, Licenses, Registration:
Current and unrestricted RN license in Pennsylvania is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn, follow, and enforce college policies and procedures
- Knowledge of trends, developments, new technologies affecting nursing and health career programs
- Knowledge of curriculum and program development
- Knowledge of public relations/marketing practices and methods
- Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications
- Skill in instructing students from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds
- Skill in using authentic assessment to evaluate students’ needs and progress
- Skill in creating, adapting, and implementing student-directed, participatory, project-based curriculum
- Skill in integrating technology into curriculum and other educational services
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner
- Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with a diverse student population.
Language Skills:
Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, faculty, staff, outside groups and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to use Internet software, spreadsheet software and word processing software. The individual must be willing and able to learn other software programs that will be required to perform the essential duties.
