Working Hours:
Working hours for this position consist of 15 hours per week (between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm). These hours are to be agreed upon between the supervisor and employee at the start of employment.
NOTE: This position may require an additional evening and/or weekend work on occasion. The employee has the option of working this time in addition to or in lieu of regular hours.
This position is 100% Grant Funded.
Summary
The Literacy Programs Tutor Coordinator will serve as a support staff to tutors, instructors, and students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Support new tutors and instructional staff with tutor and or Chromebook training if needed
- Maintain a resources (i.e. CCRS) website for tutors, instructors, and students
- Assists tutors with basic technology needs (i.e. email access, Canvas access, and or online tutor trainings).
- Document and monitor tutor and student attendance
- Assist with Literacy Program registrations
- Conduct tutor training for new tutors
- Assist with GED graduation and Tutor Appreciation Event planning and preparation
- Maintain good communications and working relationships with appropriate staff, agencies, and class site location staff.
- Maintain good communications and work effectively with all other offices of the college on matters concerning the program.
- Adhere to procedures and policies for the smooth day-to-day operation of the program.
- Participate in professional development activities as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and or RACC.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Required
Bachelor's degree. Familiarity with literacy programs testing (i.e. TABE) and specific needs of adult learners.
Preferred
Teaching certificate and or 2 years of adult education teaching experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to teach grammar, vocabulary, and the writing of essays, reports, and business correspondence to prepare students for the GED test. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to teach addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to teach basic algebra and geometry to prepare students for the GED test. Ability to compute and teach rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of internet software; Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel , Word, and PowerPoint).
Other Skills and Abilities
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required.
Experience with adult education population, curriculum development, mandated welfare reform, and dislocated workers are preferred.
