In RACC's 9th annual RACCy Olympics we have partnered with the Humane Society of Berks County. The Humane Society of Berks County was originally founded in Reading, PA in 1891. The newest location where it still stands today is at 1801 North 11th street and that was established in 1954. They have been fighting for the protection of all animals through advocacy, education, and hands-on programs. They rescue and care for tens of thousands of animals each year, but their primary mission is to prevent cruelty before it occurs.
RACCy Olympics is our conjoined endeavor to learn through service and help our community through fundraising efforts. In prior years we have focused on fundraising, but as we evolve we have adapted our efforts to include service learning. The RACCy Olympics wrap up event is an afternoon filled with crazy and unique games in which teams of students and staff compete for an overall title. It is our way of celebrating a long school year of fundraising.
The monetary donation of this year's RACCy Olympics will be going to provide a brand new state of the art shelter for homeless, abused, and neglected animals that come through the doors of our building.
