The Student Nurses’ Association @ RACC (SNA@RACC) is a local student nurse association chapter. Membership is comprised of freshman and sophomore student nurses who are enrolled in the clinical courses of the Associate Degree nursing program at RACC. The purpose and benefits of membership in SNA@RACC include development of knowledge and skills to become responsible, accountable members of the nursing profession, to promote and encourage leadership and self-governing qualities as a professional student group, and to encourage professional nursing students to participate in community affairs that aim to improve healthcare within the community.
SNA@RACC is modeled after the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) and the Student Nurses’ Association of Pennsylvania (SNAP) and provides opportunities for nursing students to participate in expanded professional organizational activities.
Through club fundraisers, the Student Nurses' Association at RACC has donated more than $1,400 as well as clothing, toiletries, and books to a variety of organizations. Charities include Opportunity House, Children’s Home of Reading, March of Dimes, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, LifeLine, Relay for Life, Reading Public Museum, Mary’s Shelter, Mercy Crisis Pregnancy Center, Wernersville State Hospital, and the Children’s Health Center.
SNA@RACC has also made a $2,500 donation to RACC’s Foundation to be used toward nursing scholarships.
