Upward Bound at RACC
The Upward Bound program of Reading Area Community College is designed to help students at Reading High School overcome educational, social and cultural barriers to higher education.
Upward Bound is part of the original TRIO programs created by Congress to help low-income Americans enter college, graduate and move on to participate more fully in America's economic and social life. Specifically, Upward Bound encourages and supports students by providing academic instruction and tutoring as well as educational, career and personal counseling.
Also, the program offers coping skills and leadership development sessions in study skills, attitudes and values, business etiquette and decision making. Participants are also encouraged to participate in cultural events, activities and college visitations.
