Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program

Drug and Alcohol Abuse

Reading Area Community College does not tolerate the abuse of alcohol or illegal drugs on campus. The College has several policies concerning the use and/or abuse of substances on its campus, and will prosecute abusers to the full extent of the law.

The following links provide information concerning campus policies, and the effects of substance abuse. Included in RACC's drug and alcohol policies is a listing of some possible consequences of abusing substances on campus. These consequences may include expulsion from campus or immediate termination of employment, as well as additional consequences imposed by state or local laws.

Legal Alcohol Use on Campus

The president and/or the board of trustees must approve any use of alcohol on campus prior to the event where alcohol is being served. Alcohol will only be served on campus using a third-party service. Never at any time will one employee be serving another employee alcohol. If any form of alcohol is for sale (during a board-sanctioned event), the college will obtain a one-day liquor license to permit the sale of alcohol on campus by the third-party vendor serving the alcohol.
