Description: |
Library Work-Study staff provide clerical support including Service Desk and Technical Services duties during weekday mornings. Working Hours: Working hours for this position consist of no more than 15 hours per week. Hours include mornings Mondays through Fridays 8:30 am -11:30 am. Working hours for this position may change weeks that include College closings when the library may change its schedule. Summary: Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Greet Library patrons as they enter and direct them to appropriate Library staff. 2. Provide services for the circulation of physical Library items including shelving. 3. Create and edit library accounts. 4. Answer the phone and respond to voicemails. 5. Process holds reports and retrieve requested items. 6. Make phone calls or other contact requests as needed. 7. Provide directional reference services to Library patrons. 8. Maintain Library supplies and appearance. 9. Provide Library processing services as assigned. 10. Open the Library following established procedures. 11. Participate in regular professional development as assigned. Education and/or Experience: Required: Strong computer skills in Windows and Microsoft Office Preferred: Bilingual: English/Spanish Prior library work experience Other Skills & Abilities: Ability to manage the responsibilities of the position in a timely manner, and be willing to complete additional duties as requested The ability to maintain confidentiality of Library information and conduct oneself in an ethical, professional manner at all times The ability to maintain an environment that is open, friendly, and respects all patrons as individuals seeking help. Computer Skills: Experience in Windows and Microsoft Office Communication Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
