Working Hours:
Working hours for this position consists of a 7 ½ working hour period between the hours of 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Friday exclusive of a ½ or 1 hour lunch. If 1 hour lunch is chosen end of shift will be extended by ½ hour. These hours are to be agreed upon between the supervisor and employee at the onset of employment.
Note: This position may require additional work on occasion with the employee having the option of working this time in addition to or in lieu of regular hours.
Summary:
Provides support services for all networks and telecommunications systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the Network & Telecommunications Manager in designing, specifying, configuring, installing, and maintaining all categories of IT network and telecommunications hardware, software, and services including but not limited to servers, routers, bridges, switches, cabling, and computer services.
- Provides problem resolution support for all network/telecommunications products, software, and services.
- Researches, evaluates, and recommends to management network/telecommunications technologies and solutions to advance system reliability, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Installs, updates, and tests all network/telecommunications and related equipment upgrades.
- Supports Network & Telecommunications manager in developing contract specifications and terms for acquisition of network/telecommunications hardware, software, support, training and consulting services.
- Supports Network & Telecommunications Manager in developing disaster recovery plans and procedures for management review, decision making and subsequent implementation. Ensures data backups are completed on a daily basis.
- Collects, analyzes, and reports network and memory utilization including network/telecommunications activities to respond to problems in a timely manner.
- Provides support for and trains users in using network/telecommunications products on campus. Develops documentation for operating systems and tools.
- Coordinates and facilitates the use of third-party maintenance for network/telecommunications hardware, software, and technical services.
- Monitors and assure compliance with all software and hardware licensing and copywrite requirements in network/telecommunications area.
- Supports network, telecommunications, and help desk demands and service requests as may be required. Maintains and updates the online problem tracking system.
- Identifies and isolates PC hardware and software faults and applies knowledge and skill to the identification of problems and solutions.
- Performs other duties as assigned including periodic coverage in computer lab, helpdesk, and web office.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
Required:
- Associates degree or equivalent in computer information technology from a two-year college or technical school.
- A minimum of three (3) years related experience.
- Must have a working familiarity with network and telecommunications equipment including hubs, switches, routers, wireless, VoIP, and A/P's.
Preferred:
- College degree preferred, specifically in an IT related field. Microsoft MCSE Certification, Advanced IT certifications are a plus including CCNA, Net+.
- Knowledge of Cisco equipment is a plus.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the College.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual: must be proficient with word processing software, spreadsheet software and standard office equipment; must be able to learn how to use room scheduling software and administrative software system.
Other Skills and Abilities:

Must demonstrate a high level of confidentiality.
