Working Hours:
Working hours for this position consists of a maximum of 25 hours per week spread over a four or five-day work week. Specific work hours to be agreed upon by the supervisor and the employee prior to the onset of employment. Note: Position may require evening and weekend work on occasion.
This is a 100% Perkins Grant funded position.
Summary:
Work as a member of the Perkins funded Career and Transfer Center team to provide employment, transfer and career exploration support to career and technical education (CTE) students. Utilize career and transfer resources to orient students to the services provided in the Career and Transfer Center and assist in the promotion of services in the classroom and at campus events. Operate as a liaison to employers and college partners to maintain active job postings, coordinate campus visits and provide a smooth hand-off to Associate Deans and/or faculty seeking workplace experience and internship opportunities for students within the meta-majors. Assist with planning and coordinating career, transfer and employment preparation events. Maintain data on student usage of program services. Conduct a graduate follow-up survey. Hire and train student workers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Orient students to the services offered through the Career and Transfer Center by disseminating information and participating in classroom activities and student events such as orientation and Open Houses, as requested.
- Provide guidance to students on the career assessment and job search software.
- Assist in the organization, preparation and dissemination of Career and Transfer Center information via print and digital mediums and social media platforms.
- Serve as a liaison to transfer college representatives, employers and the business community by maintaining job postings, scheduling visits and connecting students to jobs, internships and transfer opportunities.
- Collaborate with other student services programs, such as Student Life, Work-study, Advantage, KEYS, and Title V staff to ensure students receive targeted, timely career and transfer services information related to their CTE majors.
- Plan and execute in collaboration with the Perkins funded Enrollment Services Coordinator-Early College on hosting K12 career days and activities.
- Collect student data and maintain Career and Transfer Center statistics as requested. Monitor and track referrals as required.
- Develop and maintain a system to facilitate student employment by collecting resumes, assisting students with job search preparation and referring students to potential employers. Maintain the confidentiality of these records.
- Schedule, coordinate and promote employer and transfer college visits to the campus.
- Assist in the hiring, training and oversight of student workers.
- Conduct an annual graduate follow up survey and assist with additional data collection and surveys as requested.
- Participate in Perkins related Professional Development.
- Other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Required
- High school diploma with post-secondary college credits towards a degree
- One year of experience in business, office or higher education
- Experience working in a role that requires interaction and communication with outside businesses and/or vendors
Preferred
- Associate degree Experience working in an educational setting, preferably a community college
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish
- Experience using Microsoft Office to develop flyers, presentations and to gather data and create reports
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Internet skills.

Communication Skills:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
