Working Hours:
Working hours for this position consists of a maximum of 25 hours per week spread over a four or five-day work week. Specific work hours to be agreed upon by the supervisor and the employee prior to the onset of employment.
Note: Position may require evening and weekend work on occasion.
Summary:
Assist with the coordination, organization, and oversight of the Career Center’s day-to-day operations. Utilize career resources to engage and assist students navigating their career development. Manage the coordination and facilitation of events and programming. Serve as the first point of contact for students, staff, faculty, employers and other important stakeholders, and lead efforts to create and promote a professional, welcoming, and responsive environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide a high level of customer service to students, faculty, staff, and employers by proactively addressing inquiries, scheduling appointments, and providing an overview of Center services.
- Operate Handshake, the Center’s Career Management System, in an administrative capacity to make student appointments, schedule events, generate reports, answer general questions, and assist in other administrative functions Assist in the organization, preparation and dissemination of Career Center events and programs via print and digital mediums and social media platforms.
- Serve as a liaison to employers and the business community by maintaining job postings, scheduling visits and connecting students to jobs, internships and career-related opportunities.
- Collaborate with other student services programs, such as Student Life, Work-study, Advantage, KEYS, and Title V staff to ensure students receive targeted, timely career information.
- Collaborate with Career Center staff to collect student data and generate reports on student appointments, event participation, student satisfaction, and other key metrics.
- Schedule, coordinate and promote employer visits to the campus.
- Assist in the hiring, training and oversight of student workers.
- Maintain budget, order supplies, manage purchase requisitions, payments, and reimbursements
- Other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Required
- High school diploma with post-secondary college credits towards a degree
- One year of experience in business, office or higher education
- Experience working in a role that requires interaction and communication with outside businesses and/or vendors
Preferred
- Associate degree
- Experience working in an educational setting, preferably a community college
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish
- Experience using Microsoft Office to develop flyers, presentations and to gather data and create reports
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Internet skills.

Communication Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
