Working Hours:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm
Friday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Core working hours for this position consist of 37.5 hours per week (5 days per week, Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours per day exclusive of a 1/2 hour or 1 hour lunch between the hours of 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM). It is a requirement to report to work on snow days or other emergencies which close the college unless specifically directed not to report. May be required to work weekends or other shifts in response to emergencies with the employee having the option of working this time in addition to or in lieu of regular hours.
Summary:
Keeps campus buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition by performing various cleaning and related maintenance duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Sweep, mop and scrub floors, stairs (inside and outside buildings) and other surfaces.
2. Uses light and heavy (industrial type) floor cleaning machines and attachments.
3. Scrub, strip, wax and polish floors using heavy (industrial type) powered scrubber and buffers.
4. Vacuum rugs in offices and public areas. Steam clean rugs periodically using heavy vacuum cleaner and steam cleaning machine.
5. Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, door trim and whiteboards.
6. Perform routine preventative maintenance on cleaning equipment.
7. Clean window treatments and ceiling fixtures using ladders.
8. Wash window sills, windows and glass in corridor and doors.
9. Wash and/or clean wall spaces by hand or with powered washing equipment.
10. Clean and service lavatories, toilet rooms and rest rooms.
11. Clean and service cigarette urns and ashtrays.
12. Collect and place in containers of plastic bags trash and debris, place trash in collection area for removal.
13. Replace liners in waste baskets and trash containers.
14. Move furniture, supplies and miscellaneous equipment as directed.
15. Report to supervisor safety, security and maintenance issues requiring correction.
16. Sweep or shovel snow from steps and walkways.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One year related experience.
Communication Skills:
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Other Qualifications:
Favorable completion of PA State Police Criminal Records Check.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to use basic hand tools.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment.
